Brothers continued their unbeaten start to the Hospital Cup season with an impressive comeback victory over Norths, overcoming a halftime deficit to storm home in dominant fashion.
Norths struck first in the opening stages, crossing on the left edge to apply early pressure and set the tone for a physical contest. Brothers responded soon after through a clever blindside play, with Jack Harley diving over to get the Brethren on the board.
The match quickly developed into an intense battle through the middle, with both sides throwing plenty into contact. Dom Fraser crossed for the first of his two tries for the afternoon, finishing off a powerful rolling maul as Brothers continued to challenge Norths through their forward dominance.
Despite Brothers’ strong moments, Norths capitalised on their opportunities late in the first half, adding two further tries to take momentum into the break and hold a 22–12 lead at halftime.
The second half, however, belonged entirely to Brothers.
The Brethren returned from the sheds looking like a different side, immediately lifting the tempo and taking control of the contest.
Brothers piled on four quick tries in a blistering period after halftime, beginning with Jack Harley grabbing his second of the afternoon before Graham Urquhart crossed soon after. Momentum continued to swing heavily in Brothers’ favour as Brad Hemopo added another, before Dom Fraser secured his second try through yet another dominant rolling maul effort to extend the runaway lead.
Norths managed to respond with a try of their own in an attempt to claw their way back into the match, but Brothers remained composed and continued to dictate play across the park.
The moment that sealed the energy around Crosby Park came after the 70-minute mark, when a filthy flick pass from Dalle Cort sparked another attacking movement that sent the Brothers crowd into celebration.
