Four premierships. Five Grand Finals. One unforgettable weekend. Brothers Rugby Club has etched its name into Queensland Premier Rugby history, producing one of the most dominant Grand Final weekends in club history with four premiership victories from five appearances at Ballymore Stadium. The Brethren claimed the Hospital Cup, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade and Colts 2 premierships, with the four victories coming across two extraordinary days of rugby. Most remarkably, it was the firsr time in Brothers history that we have claimed 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade premierships in the same season. 1st Grade – Brothers 51 def. Wests 14 The weekend's headline act belonged to the Brothers First Grade side, which delivered a statement performance to reclaim the Sumo Energy Hospital Cup with a comprehensive 51–14 victory over Wests. The Brethren exploded into life late in the first half, scoring four tries in a devastating 12-minute period to turn the Grand Final into a one-sided contest. Brothers headed to the sheds with a commanding 36–7 lead. Queensland Reds winger Tim Ryan was the star of the afternoon, crossing for a hat-trick, while Finn Prass produced a superb performance at flyhalf to claim the Tony Shaw Medal as Player of the Grand Final. Brothers' other tries came through Prass, Brad Hemopo, Josh Flook, Benn Dalle Cort and Henry Smith, with Dalle Cort adding three conversions and Hemopo contributing two conversions and a penalty goal. For Hemopo, the Grand Final was particularly special, marking the end of an outstanding playing career. He finished his final game by kicking Brothers' final points of the afternoon. Last home game of the season delivering a masterclass second half from the boys in stripes. Brothers came out firing at Sunnybank, wasting no time putting points on the board as they looked to continue their strong run of form. The scoreboard was opened through Grafton, who finished brilliantly in the corner after a strong attacking set. Dalle Cort made no mistake from the tee, adding the extras to give Brothers an early advantage. The combination between the backs continued to shine, with Prass sending a perfectly weighted kick over the top for Grafton to chase down and finish in the corner once again, his second try of the afternoon. Another successful conversion from Dalle Cort extended Brothers’ lead. Sunnybank fought their way back into the contest, finding momentum and crossing the line three times to swing the momentum in their favour. A fourth try shortly after left Brothers with plenty to do heading into the sheds, trailing 14-26 at the halftime break. Needing a response, Brothers returned from the sheds with a point to prove. The second half belonged entirely to the homegrounds. Straight through the middle came Brothers’ first response, with Prass breaking through to score one for himself before Dalle Cort converted. The momentum had shifted, and Brothers were just getting started. A blistering attacking spell saw Brothers cross the line three times in quick succession after halftime. Another finish in the corner was followed by Fletcher sneaking through for his first try of the afternoon, with Dalle Cort continuing his perfect afternoon off the tee. The pressure continued to build as Latu created space out the back, finding Prass who finished his second try of the afternoon. With Dalle Cort adding the extras, Brothers had taken complete control. The defensive effort was just as impressive, with Sunnybank unable to add any points in the second half as Brothers continued to apply pressure across the park. Refusing to let up, Brothers powered their way over the line once again, rucking and mauling their way to another try before Dalle Cort calmly converted. A dominant second-half performance saw Brothers run away with a 54-26 victory, showcasing the resilience, composure and attacking firepower that has defined their season so far. After being challenged at halftime, Brothers responded emphatically, proving once again they are a side that refuses to be counted out.

The Brethren delivered another commanding performance on the weekend, remaining undefeated after a ruthless 76–12 victory over Wests Bulldogs in front of a buzzing Crosby Park crowd. Brothers wasted no time asserting themselves early, opening the scoring through a powerful maul effort that had the home crowd roaring. First points in front of the Butchery. The opening stages belonged entirely to the men in butcher stripes, with relentless pressure and slick ball movement causing all sorts of problems for Wests. Brothers continued to build momentum when Wilson crossed for the side’s second try on his 99th First Grade appearance. From there, the floodgates opened. Brothers piled on five tries in under 20 minutes, with Prass and Dalle Cort helping orchestrate a clinical attacking display as the lead exploded out to 27-0 before Wests could settle into the contest. Wests managed to respond with a late first-half try, but Brothers still headed into the sheds firmly in control with a 29-5 advantage. The visitors came out firing after halftime and struck first in an attempt to claw their way back into the match, but Brothers quickly shut the door. A try in the corner steadied the home side before a penalty try, at the worst possible moment for Wests, pushing the margin further beyond reach. Brothers then shifted into another gear entirely. Three tries in five second-half minutes showcased the side’s attacking firepower, with Harley producing a clever trick-play finish to extend the lead to 55-12. The highlight reel continued when Grafton produced a stunning runaway try, charging the length of the field to ignite the Crosby faithful. Not done yet, he later sealed a hat-trick with a full-field intercept effort to put an exclamation mark on the afternoon. By full-time, Brothers had run in a staggering 76 points in another dominant display, maintaining their undefeated run and continuing to build serious momentum as the season rolls on.

Brothers continued their dominant season with another commanding performance, defeating Sunnybank 50–26 in an entertaining, high-tempo contest that showcased attacking firepower and resilience from both sides. Brothers set the tone early, striking just two minutes into the match when Ben Dalle Cort sliced through the defence to open the scoring under the posts. From there, the brethrens momentum only grew. With slick ball movement and strong forward carries, Dalle Cort was again involved in the build-up as Brothers found space out wide, with Pakeho finishing off a well-constructed passage of play to extend the lead. Back-to-back tries soon followed, with Pakeho crossing again shortly after to push Brothers further ahead and seize control of the first half. Sunnybank responded, hitting back with a well-timed line to break through and keeping in the conest. However, Brothers continued to apply pressure, with McCarthy producing a standout moment by breaking through the line and running coast-to-coast to score a powerful individual try, stretching the lead even further. At halftime, Brothers held a commanding 38–7 lead after scoring six tries to one, controlling possession and territory through the opening forty minutes. Sunnybank came out of the sheds with intent, scoring first in the second half to reduce the margin and briefly shift momentum. They capitalised further after a charged-down kick led to a quick second try, keeping the contest alive. However, Brothers responded once again, striking back with a crucial try to reassert control and keep the scoreboard ticking. Despite Sunnybank’s determination and continued attacking effort, Brothers remained composed and finished strongly. A final converted try sealed the result, pushing the score out to 50–26 and confirming another impressive victory. Brothers remain undefeated, continuing their strong form with another clinical display built on early dominance, attacking execution, and the ability to respond under pressure.

Huge congratulations to Hamish Muller on making his Super Rugby debut in Round 3 of the 2026 season against the Highlanders last Friday Night This debut is the a deserved reward for the hard work, dedication and resilience Hamish has shown over many years here at Brothers. The Reds went on that night to win 31-14 with the Brothers Boys running wild! Tries to Matt Faessler, Vice Latu, Tim Ryan and Fraser McCreight plus outstanding performances from Harry Wilson and Josh Flook. The entire club is right behind you, Hamish — a fantastic start to what we know will be a big season ahead.

Proud moment for our club. Vaiuta Latu is set to live out his dream with his Super Rugby debut for Queensland Reds tonight. Better known around the place simply as “Vice,” he played in our juniors and then rejoined us straight out of St Peter’s Lutheran College, came through our Colts program and Rohrig Elite Development Program. Year after year he kept stacking progress, earned his 1st Grade debut, and stayed the course in the Reds system until the door opened. No shortcuts, just consistency, resilience, and serious work rate. Fully deserved. Congratulations Vice and the Latu family. The entire Brothers community is in your corner and backing you all the way tonight.

The theme this year is all about celebrating the diversity of roles, experiences and pathways for women and girls in rugby. From players and coaches to match officials and volunteers, every contribution shapes the future of the game and strengthens the rugby community. This week we celebrate the women and girls who shape our game — and it’s only fitting we begin with one of our own. 💫Celebrating a True Trailblazer 💫 Jodie “JK” Moore is more than a player at Brothers. She is a pioneer, a premiership winner, and a cornerstone of women’s rugby at Crosby Park. In 2020, JK became just the second woman in club history to reach 100 games for our Women’s team — a milestone built on resilience, loyalty and love for the jersey. She’s represented Queensland 12 times, been part of 14 premiership-winning sides, and most importantly, helped lay the foundations by starting the first women’s team at Brothers. After stepping away from the game for 13 years, she returned — and went on to earn her 100th cap at 51 years young. If that doesn’t redefine commitment, nothing does. Her legacy, alongside Deena Aiken, is now permanently etched into our calendar. We are proud to contest the Deena Aiken – Jodie Kairl Challenge Cup — Australia’s first Challenge Cup for a Premier Women’s XV. Played annually between Brothers (current holders) and UQ, the Cup honours not just on-field success, but the influence both women have had in shaping the women’s game off the field. This week, we honour JK — and every woman and girl who continues to build, grow and strengthen our game. The past paved the way. We're not where we want to be but we are dedicated to investing where we need to be. 🤝🏾

Welcome back for Season 2026! I hope all our members had an enjoyable holiday period. It is hard to believe that February is almost over and Super Rugby is already underway. Congratulations to all Brothers representative players, especially Fraser McReight, who makes his Reds captaincy debut, and Vaiuta Latu, who makes his Super Rugby starting debut. We also congratulate all of the Brothers cohort selected in the NextGen Under 20 Series — a fantastic achievement and a strong reflection of our development pathways. At Brothers, our players have been training hard for some time now. We allowed our fields at Crosby Park additional rest to ensure they return to their best for the season ahead. Thank you to our GM Mitch and Greenway for preparing the fields in such excellent condition. More recently, pre-season training has been held at Windsor Park, with strong reports from the playing group that the change of venue has worked well. All our senior teams are looking forward to big seasons ahead, and we have recruited some quality new Colts who we are excited to see take the field. Our Junior program is set for a big season ahead. We kick things off with Sign On Day at home on 28 February — meet the coaches, connect with families, test your skills, and say hello to some of our senior squad and visiting Reds players. Our U6–U9s return to the Metro Hub format after last year’s success, while U10–U16 teams launch preseason next week, supported by welcome BBQs for new and returning families. Junior Colts begin their Lightning Series campaign as they look to defend their title. We’re shaping up for another outstanding year on and off the field — plenty of hard work, strong connection, and great memories to come. Touch Football has also started strongly for the year, with 100 boys playing on Wednesday afternoons in the Boys Term 1 competition. We currently have 650 girls registered for the Season 1 Girls competition, which kicks off next week. I would like to acknowledge all of our sponsors, especially Seymour Furlong Lawyers, who join us as our new Principal Sponsor for 2026. We greatly appreciate member support of these events, which play an important role in bringing our community together. We’re proud to announce Phil Burleigh as Head Coach of the Rohrig Elite Development Program (EDP) for 2026. A former professional with a 17-year career across NPC (Bay of Plenty & Canterbury) Super Rugby (Chiefs, Highlanders, Sunwolves), European rugby with Edinburgh, Japan (Kyuden) and international honours with Scotland national rugby union team, Phil brings genuine elite experience in skill execution, game management and player development. Now in his second year as Assistant Coach of the Churchie 1st XV and working as a Performance Mindset Coach, he adds both pathway expertise and mental performance depth to our program. His appointment strengthens our high-performance environment from Colts to seniors and ensures our EDP is led by someone who understands what it takes at the top level.
