Brothers Rugby Club is celebrating a fantastic achievement, with Brothers, Queensland Reds and Wallabies star Fraser McReight named the 2026 John Eales Medallist.

McReight received Australian rugby’s highest individual honour at the Rugby Australia Awards in Sydney on Thursday night, recognising an outstanding 12 months in Wallabies colours.

The 27-year-old was a standout throughout the international season, recording 17 turnovers, making close to 180 tackles and scoring six tries. He also took home the Defender of the Year award, further highlighting his impact at the highest level.

The John Eales Medal, voted on by fellow Wallabies, places Fraser among some of Australian rugby’s greatest players, including Michael Hooper, David Pocock and George Smith.

It is also a significant milestone for Queensland rugby, with McReight becoming the first Queensland player to claim the award since Chris Latham in 2006.

Everyone at Brothers is incredibly proud of Fraser and what he continues to achieve on the national and international stage.

Congratulations, Fraser! A fantastic achievement!
