May 17, 2025, Round 7 Easts vs Brothers

Brothers’ unbeaten streak in First Grade has been broken with an uncharacteristically sloppy performance at Tigerland, being defeated 35-17. The visitors never looked in command of their game, and despite plenty of opportunity to punish the Tigers, let the home side off through poor handling and discipline issues around the ruck.

The other grades fired however, with Brothers coming away from Easts with only the First Grade loss and a narrow loss in Colts 3 to keep their Doughty Shield campaign moving in the right direction. Most encouraging was Colts 1 rejoining the winner’s circle in 2025, overcoming a see-sawing battle where they were behind with two minutes to go before a try at the death gave the squad some much needed momentum.

In the Women’s match against Wests, Brothers gave the runaway ladder leaders an almighty scare, going down narrowly 24-21, with an intercept try to Wests in the shadows of full time being the difference and sinking the Albion women in heartbreaking fashion.
