June 28, 2025, Round 13 Norths vs Brothers

First Grade

Brothers edged out another gritty win over crosstown rivals Norths in front of a buzzing, packed-out Ladies Day crowd at Crosby Park. Norths struck the first blow in the 8th minute, with Connor O’Regan slicing through the defence to score and silence the home supporters early. But Brothers wasted no time responding, showcasing their attacking flair by crossing for three impressive tries before halftime, sending the Ladies Day faithful into full voice. Holding a healthy lead after the break, Brothers found themselves under pressure as Norths wrestled back momentum, clawing their way back into the contest with determined phases and quick ball movement. The gap narrowed, setting up a tense final few minutes. Ultimately, Brothers held their nerve, defending stoutly to secure a hard-fought 29-24 victory and keep their winning streak alive. A standout on the day was Athen Waia-McGuiggan, who continued his blistering try-scoring form by bagging another double, proving once again to be a constant threat out wide. The win adds further excitement to an already electric season for Brothers, with the energy of Ladies Day proving the perfect backdrop for another memorable derby clash.

Founders Cup

Our Founders Cup squad stormed back into the winners’ circle over the weekend, delivering a statement performance in a resounding victory over Norths. Racking up an impressive 50 points while conceding just a single try, our girls dazzled the packed crowd with an attacking masterclass, combining slick ball movement, speed, and clinical finishing across the park. Equally impressive was the defensive effort, as the team repelled a determined Norths side with disciplined structure and relentless tackling, keeping any threats largely at bay. This marks our first win in the new Founders Cup competition a result that will inject the squad with plenty of confidence and momentum as the season progresses. Spirits are high, and the belief in what this team can achieve continues to grow. However, an even bigger test looms next week, as we prepare to take on the undefeated Wests Bulldogs, the reigning Challenge Cup champions. It promises to be a thrilling encounter, and our girls will be eager to carry this newfound momentum into one of their toughest challenges yet.
