Brothers v Easts
A second half ambush from Brothers at Jack Ross oval saw the Brethren secure a 42-15 victory over Easts.
A try to inside centre Matt Gordan and a drop goal to his centre partner Sean Cox handed the Tigers an 8-nil half-time lead.
As the teams returned for the second half, Easts looked like claiming their second victory of the season.
However, Brothers were a different side in the second half as they piled on 42 points to Easts’ seven in front of their annual Ladies Day crowd.
The Brethren waited till the 65th minute until leading Premier Rugby try-scorer Mitch Felsman got the try-scoring bonanza underway.
It was all-downhill from there for the Tigers as mistakes proved costly with Brothers piling on a further five unanswered tries.
An intercept to Pierce Fitzgerald was the highlight, as number eight Luke Beauchamp capitalised on his winger’s defensive read to cross the chalk in the 70th minute.
The bonus-point victory was Brothers fourth in a row, leaving the Brethren just one-point behind Souths on the ladder.
