Brothers v Wests
Brothers continued their unbeaten run at home with a convincing 41-19 victory over Wests in Round 8 of BLK Queensland Premier Rugby.
Prolific try-scorer Mitch Felsman scored his second hat-rick for the year, taking his tally to a competition high 14 tries from just 7 games.
In halfback Sam Grasso’s 50th Premier Grade match, the Brethren were slow starters with Wests number eight Rob Rutledge scoring the opening points.
The home side waited until the 28th minute before they got on the scoreboard through a try to Richie Skelton. Felsman slotted his first conversion for the year to lock the scores up at 7-all.
Brothers prop Matt Mafi crossed right on the cusp of half-time to hand the home side with the lead as the teams headed into the sheds.
In the second half, Brothers came out firing and looked like a completely different side when Felsman crossed for his first try just two minutes in.
It was all down hill from there for the visitors, as their defence succumbed to a dummy-switch move handing Felsman his second for the afternoon.
Late tries to Silas Cocks and Joel Brown were not enough for the Bulldogs to chase down Brothers as the home side ran away 41-19 victors.
